SECRET 7” COMBINES MUSIC AND ART FOR A GOOD CAUSE

WE’RE DELIGHTED TO BE BACK IN 2016 FOR OUR 5TH YEAR!

Secret 7” takes 7 tracks from 7 of the best-known musicians around and presses each one 100 times to 7” vinyl. We then invite creatives from around the world to interpret the tracks in their own style for every 7”. 700 sleeves are exhibited and then sold for £50 apiece. You don’t know who created the sleeve, or even which song it’s for, until you have parted with your cash - the secret lies within.

In 2016 we are delighted to be supporting Amnesty International UK.

They stand up for human rights across the world, wherever justice freedom, fairness and truth are denied.

OUR NEW HOME

For our fifth instalment we return to Shoreditch to take up residence at Sonos Studio.

The space is designed as a social, collaborative home for artists and communities working across music, art and technology. That aim is perfectly aligned with our mission and we look forward to putting on a show with
Sonos Studio!

We are putting together a program of special event again this year, starting with sleeve making workshops with some very special hosts.

PLAY

S729 / Chvrches - Clearest Blue

Our personal favourite from Chvrches’ terrific 2015 album ‘Every Open Eye’. This synth pop track builds and build before exploding into something very special.

PLAY

S730 / Etta James - At Last

The oldest track we’ve ever pressed! Originally released in 1960, this song is the definition of timeless and continues to soundtrack magic moments.

PLAY

S731 / Jack Garratt - Worry

Jack is destined for big things in 2016 having already bagged the BRITS Critics Choice. ‘Worry’ is taken from his debut album due in February.

PLAY

S732 / The Jam - Art School

Taken from the band’s 1977 debut album ‘In The City’. Only the title-track was released from that record, we think we're finally giving Art School the release it deserves.

PLAY

S733 / John Lennon - Imagine

Arguably the most iconic track of all time. As Rolling Stone once eloquently put it, “it is now impossible to imagine a world without "Imagine." And we need it, more than he ever dreamed”.

PLAY

S734 / Max Richter - Dream 3

Taken from an 8 hour album which made Rough Trade’s top 5 albums of 2015 and is believed to be the longest single piece of classical music ever recorded. It’s also our first release with no lyrics!

PLAY

S735 / Tame Impala - The Less I Know The Better

Tame Impala’s third studio album ‘Currents’ was in the mix for pretty much every publications ‘Top Records of 2015’ and rightly so.

Not only has Max Richter kindly lent one of his tracks to be covered in this year’s show, he’s also hosting a sleepover in the exhibition space on April 19. His latest work, ‘Sleep’, is an eight-hour epic of sonorous orchestration and vocals that aims to mimic and affect our natural night-time patterns. Fresh from its opening performances over three nights in Berlin, we spoke to Max to find out more about the project.
