After 7 shows over a total of 8 years we have decided to move on from producing any more Secret 7" editions in the the existing format.
We're focussing our attentions to new opportunities to create projects for great causes alongside running our creative agency Goodness
thisisgoodness.com
We'd love to hear from you if you're interested in collaborating with us to bring something new and exciting to life.
This year we’re celebrating the seventh and final edition of Secret 7”.
By the end of this show we’ll have made 4,900 one-of-a-kind records for 49 different tracks since 2012. What started as a side hustle has taken us on some journey.
With your continued support creating artwork and buying records, we hope to take our grand total raised for good causes to over £250,000.
If you're unfamiliar with the project, let us unpack how we aim to do that.
We’re pressing 100x copies of the following tracks to 7” -
Aretha Franklin - One Step Ahead
Bob Dylan - Blind Willie McTell
Foo Fighters - This Is A Call
The Internet - Come Over
Koffee - Toast
Miles Davis - Miles Runs The Voodoo Down
Vampire Weekend - Harmony Hall
Every single one of them will have unique artwork created for it.
Amongst the 700 unique records in our gallery this year are artworks from Lubaina Himid, Anish Kapoor, Tacita Dean, Mark Wallinger, Shona Heath, The Connor Brothers, Helen Beard, Jeremy Deller, Lotte Andersen, Stanley Donwood, Jadé Fadojutimi, Ragnar Kjartansson, Maya Hayuk, Gavin Turk, Unskilled Worker, Michel Gondry and many more, featured alongside a whole host of our favourite photographers, illustrators, painters, graffiti artists and sculptors.
Sitting proudly alongside those we invite will be our picks from a worldwide open submission which ANYONE could have contribute to. This year we were sent almost 6,000 artworks!
View the contributor page for the full 2020 artist list.
From 14 October - 1 November we’ll exhibit all the artwork at NOW Gallery on Greenwich Peninsula in London, all 700 records will be sold via auction on the final day.
The secret is that all the artworks are anonymous. If you’re looking for a particular record you’ll have to study the sleeves and guess correctly, you’ll have a 1 in 7 chance at that. If you’re looking for a particular artwork contributor then your odds are a bit longer.
Look out for additional events along the way. In the past we’ve had expert talks, offered the public the chance to record live to vinyl, shown films, had performances from our musicians, ran artist workshops with our contributors and hosted a sleepover.
We’ve also created some special bonus material to help boost the money we’ve raised to date, including a hybrid jukebox that played both 7” records and streamed via Sonos, unique turntables with famous artists and posters. There will be more of this in 2020.
